Tri-State Conference Men’s Playoff Picture Still Murky!

Poughkeepsie, NY – Playoff matters are only a little clearer in the Tri-State Conference as of Sunday evening October 26th, 2025.

We now know that USMMA and Vassar will host semifinal games.

This weekend USMMA, Kings Point clobbered Hofstra University 89-0 to close out their regular season play. The cadets are 6-1 tied and with Fairfield University Men atop the table. Although Fairfield finish first based on the tie-breaker of head-to-head competition, the Stags are ineligible for post season play in the Tri-State. So USMMA are the number 1 seed. The Vassar College Men has now had back-to-back wins over Hofstra and Seton Hall and that takes their points tally to 22 and a second place finish behind USMMA.

Currently, Seton Hall is in the third position with 17 points. Right behind in 4th is Maritime with 16 points and then Hofstra with 15 points. The big win this weekend was SUNY-New Paltz defeating Maritime 46-17.

There is one game left to play on account of a weather postponement and that is Hofstra v Maritime. It has implications for 3 teams in the running for a semifinal berth.

HOFSTRA v MARITIME

If Hofstra was to win with or without scoring a bonus point for 4 tries, then they would have 19 or 20 points. If Hofstra was to lose, they are toast!

If Hofstra was to tie and score 4 tries, they would have 18 points. 17 points would also work since in a tie with Seton Hall they hold the regular season win.

A tie for Maritime with or without a bonus point would ensure they make the playoffs.

If Maritime win with or without a bonus point, they are the number 3 seed.

If Maritime lose but score 4 tries that would give them 17 points however, a tie with Seton Hall in the standings doesn’t help them as the Hall go through on head-to head play.
