Fall Season 2021

To: All Tri-State Conference Rugby Teams

Re: Fall Season 2021

Date: November 1, 2021

Regular Season

The Fall 2021 regular season has come to a close save for the Men’s Division III who have one more weekend of play. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the administrators, team leaders and players for making their best effort each week to work with other teams and play as much of the schedule as was possible. The small rosters for teams, issues with transportation, Covid restrictions, a small pool of referees and the injuries sustained all contributed to problems yet for the most part we prevailed. Thank you one and all.

Post-season

The Tri-State Conference is now entering the post season and that means a few teams will advance to the Conference finals and regional play. It is important that you get with your school academic registrar and complete the eligibility paperwork. (Blank form attached). I would encourage those involved in the post season to go to the Tri-State Conference website, the ACRA website and the NCR website for pertinent details regarding playoff brackets and venues. ( https:/tristaterugby.org, https://www.acrarugby.org, https://www.ncrugby.org ) {Women’s Division II ACRA brackets

Additional games

It has come to my attention that some teams are wanting to add games to their schedule now that conference play has concluded. However, There is a severe shortage of referees and we need to be considerate of the burden we are putting on these officials. Please do not schedule games independently with another school or club and then seek a referee. You may request that a game be added to the schedule and to do so you will need to e-mail both the Conference and the Referee’s Society ( tobrown@vassar.edu, camille.juzwik@gmail.com ) But please understand that the game may not be played.

Coaches

This Fall has proven particularly challenging for teams with so many rookies on the field and there has been a tendency for coaches to go onto the field of play during games. Though understandable this is not permissible. Coaches need to remain on the touchline and I would ask that all take a few minutes to review the Coaches Code of Conduct that is on the Tri-State website. (The exception to this rule would be a medical emergency where the coach is a trained EMT, paramedic, ATC, physician or their presence is requested by medical personnel to assist an injured player.) Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns and again a big thank you for making this Fall Season possible.

Sincerely,

Tony Brown
